Miami International to Visit Saudi Arabia: Messi and Ronaldo to Face Off Again
Inter Miami, the Major League Soccer (MLS) team featuring Lionel Messi, announced on Monday (December 11) that they will participate in two matches in the Riyadh Season Cup in Saudi Arabia in early 2024. The matches are scheduled for January 29 against Al-Hilal and February 1 against Al-Nassr, where Cristiano Ronaldo plays.
The Riyadh Season Cup marks part of Inter Miami's inaugural international tour, which also includes matches in El Salvador and Hong Kong.
Asensi, Chief Business Officer of Inter Miami, stated, "This is another significant opportunity to build lasting relationships with passionate fans. We are thrilled to meet new fans in Saudi Arabia and hope people worldwide will tune in to witness this dream showdown."
Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo have faced each other on the field more than 30 times throughout their professional careers. Messi, an eight-time Ballon d'Or winner, holds an impressive record, while Cristiano Ronaldo boasts five Ballon d'Or awards.
In January of this year, following his transfer to Al-Nassr, Cristiano Ronaldo made his debut appearance in Saudi Arabia. Leading the Riyadh All-Star XI, he faced a defeat with a score of 4-5 against Paris Saint-Germain, captained by Messi, Neymar, and Mbappe. This marked Ronaldo's first appearance in Saudi Arabia after joining Al-Nassr.
