Real Madrid's Growing Defensive Crisis
Real Madrid's central defender crisis is getting worse. Nacho Fernandez received a red card against Deportivo Alaves and now Madrid only has one senior central defender.
Nacho was sent off by the referee in the Alaves vs Real Madrid match at the Estadio de Mendizorroza, Friday (22/12) early morning WIB, in the LaLiga continuation. He received a red card in the 54th minute after committing a foul on Samu Omorodion.
This is the second red card for Nacho this season. Previously, the 33 year old defender also received a red card in the match against Girona last September.
That means Nacho will be out for at least two games or longer. This situation means that Carlo Ancelotti doesn't have many choices in the central defender position.
Antonio Ruediger is the only senior center back remaining in the Madrid squad. Los Blacos have also lost Eder Militao and David Alaba who are suffering from serious injuries.
It is not impossible that Ancelotti will use Aurelien Tchouameni as a central defender in Madrid's next match. The French midfielder filled in at center back in the match against Alaves after Nacho was sent off.
Real Madrid will next host Real Mallorca on Thursday (4/1) early morning WIB. Madrid is now at the top of the Spanish League standings thanks to a 1-0 win over Alaves.
