Jurgen Klopp's Comments after Liverpool Go Top
Liverpool manager, Jurgen Klopp, gave credit to his team after climbing to the top of the 2023/2024 Premier League standings.
Liverpool shifted Arsenal from the top of the standings after beating Burnley 2-0, Wednesday (27/12/2023) early morning WIB. The Reds collected 42 points from 19 matches, while Arsenal collected 40 points from 18 matches.
The Gunners can regain top position if they beat West Ham United, Friday (28/12/2023) early morning WIB. However, Klopp was still happy with the brave performance of the Liverpool squad.
He praised Liverpool's performance this season, which he said was impressive until the end of this year.
"The first part of the season was not perfect but everything is fine," said Klopp, as quoted by the Mirror.
“We will now be no more than one point away from the top of the standings after this week's games. So, it was very close. Whatever the outside world thinks, playing four games in 10 days is intense. It's been a very busy period."
'It feels good to be on top. I'm not going to raise my hand because it might change but getting 42 points is really nice. Darwin and Diogo are perfect goal scorers for us," he added.
Liverpool's goals in the match against Burnley were respectively created by Darwin Nunez (6') and Diogo Jota (90'). Jurgen Klopp also gave special support to Nunez.
“Darwin is an incredible finisher but if a striker doesn't score goals, you question everything. "Now he scored another goal, so everything is fine," stressed the German coach.
"Playing at Burnley is never easy and we struggled. There was a bit of chaos after our goal was disallowed. But I was happy with our performance." added the former Borussia Dortmund coach.
