Liverpool's Arne Slot Blocks Potential Alisson Exit Despite Interest from Saudi Club
Arne Slot, Liverpool manager, is set to make significant decisions regarding the club's future due to forthcoming summer transfers. Among these is a reported strong interest by a Saudi club in Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker.
Transfer pundit Fabrizio Romano confirmed the speculative interest in Becker—a highly ranked goalkeeper in global soccer — by the Saudi club around March and April. Despite these advances, according to Romano, it's expected Alisson will continue playing for Liverpool as both the team and player are mutually satisfied. After pushing through injuries during the 2023/24 season, Alisson made 28 Premier League appearances, allowing only 30 goals and preserving eight clean sheets.
On the contrary, Alisson Becker's substitute, Caoimhin Kelleher from the Republic of Ireland, is reportedly ready to leave Liverpool in search of more playing time. Liverpool is unlikely to hinder Kelleher's departure, implying the club will need a new goalkeeper. Burnley's local rising star, James Trafford, priced at approximately £20m, is suggested to be Liverpool's prime choice to fill the anticipated void.
