Swedish starlet Bergwijn will officially join Tottenham Hotspur on July 1st

Swedish starlet Bergwijn will officially join Tottenham Hotspur on July 1st. Recently, in an interview with Swedish media Aftonbladet, he revealed that he is set to travel to London on June 25th and will have his first training session with Tottenham less than a week later.

On joining Tottenham:
"Of course, I'm nervous and excited about entering the Premier League and joining a big club, and getting to know how they operate. It feels great, though it’s also a bit sad to leave. I've been with Djurgården for a while; it's my family."

On potentially returning to Djurgården in the future:
"Maybe in 17-18 years. I’ll end my career there."

On living arrangements in London:
"I’ve already arranged an apartment with Tottenham's help. The focus was on finding a place close to the training ground, rather than in central London. It’s near a tube station, which will allow me to avoid traffic and easily reach the city center. The location is great, and a few teammates live nearby."

On getting his driver’s license last week:
"It was terrifying. I just got my driver’s license, and it’s going to be tricky."

On choosing Tottenham over Barcelona:
"It was a bit of a shocking experience. I didn't expect so much attention, which has its pros and cons. Some people are very happy, others not so much. I think it’s a good thing because I can get used to it and learn more. I'm already accustomed to the pressure on social media, and it will only increase, so I just have to adapt more."

On recent contact with Tottenham:
"They’ve given me a lot of freedom to handle things; they know I want to focus on Djurgården right now, but of course, we’ve been in touch. After the home game against Malmö, I went out for dinner in Stockholm with their sporting director. The level of contact has been good—not too much, not too little."

On what he will miss the most:
"Family, friends, my girlfriend, and Djurgården. Just being here, it’s so peaceful, seeing everyone and training is enough."

On his role on the pitch:
"As a midfielder, I have played several games in the number 10 position, with mixed results. I feel I’ve found a more stable level, allowing me more freedom to come out and receive the ball, controlling the game like a number 6 or 8. We've talked about this more."

On his final days at Djurgården:
"Coming out of a season, you’ve played many games, performed well, and are in good form. It really feels great. Especially the last three games, but we still have one more to play, and I hope to finish on a high note."
