Bellingham: This was probably our best performance of the tournament

In the UEFA European Championship quarter-finals, England defeated Switzerland in a penalty shootout. After the match, England player Jude Bellingham gave an interview.

Bellingham stated, "Overall, this was probably our best performance in the tournament. We are very proud of the boys. Some things you can't always measure or see, like character and mentality, and we showed that again in the penalty shootout. Coming on as a substitute and taking a penalty under that kind of pressure is a very special thing."

Regarding the penalty shootout, Bellingham said, "I practice penalties just like the other guys, and I have my own routine. I rely on the practice I have done. Sometimes you get sent on and miss a penalty. But I always believe that when you follow a routine you are familiar with, it gives you a bit more confidence."

Bellingham continued, "These moments are only truly special when you win a match and aim to win the tournament. When you look back, these moments make everything more worthwhile. If we can continue this level of performance, then everything will be worth it, and that’s what we have to do in the coming days."
