Search Continues for Moroccan Footballers Missing at Sea
The search for two Moroccan footballers, Abdellatif Akhrif and Salman El-Harrak, who went missing at sea off the country's northern coast on Saturday, is ongoing. The players, from top-flight club Ittihad Tanger, were part of a group of five staff members on a boat excursion. While three members of the group were rescued, Akhrif and El-Harrak remain missing.
One of the rescued individuals, Oussama Aflah, described a sudden change in weather conditions, with heavy winds pushing them away from their boat while they were swimming. He reported they were within sight of the shore when the incident occurred, despite being checked by coast guard officials earlier, and confirmed they were wearing life jackets. However, the club's deputy president, Anass Mrabet, indicated the men were not wearing life jackets while swimming.
Ittihad Tanger have appealed to the media and fans to be cautious with information shared on social media, while they continue the search for their missing players.
