Man Utd next transfer close as medical completed and Ten Hag impresses Zirkzee

Man Utd next transfer close as medical completed and Ten Hag impresses Zirkzee

Manchester United have completed their first transfer of the summer and of the Sir Jim Ratcliffe and INEOS era.

Joshua Zirkzee has been confirmed as United's newest star after arriving from Bologna in a deal worth more than £36million. The Red Devils paid more than the Dutchman's release clause to seal a deal for the striker in order to ensure a more favourable payment structure.

Zirkzee joins on a five-year deal but will first enjoy a break following an extended period with his national side as Netherlands reached the semi-final of Euro 2024. United's ambitions in the market will not end there however. The club still hold hopes of strengthening their backline and midfield, while another forward has been touted.

Zirkzee's first words
United's new signing hopes to hit the ground running at Old Trafford and has been persuaded of an exciting future by Erik ten Hag. Zirkzee hopes to hit a new level following his move.

“Having had discussions with the manager and the leaders of the club I know how exciting the future is going to be here and I cannot wait to play my part in achieving success for Manchester United," he said. "I am a player who has always dedicated everything to winning.

"I’m ready for this next challenge, to go to another level in my career and win more trophies. It is a privilege to join such an iconic club. I have to take a short break now after being with the national team, but I’ll be coming back ready to make an impact straight away.”

Manchester United's next transfer
Manchester United's next move appears to be an exit from the club. Willy Kambwala is set to join Villarreal.
Kambwala has played 10 times for United's senior side, including eight times in the Premier League. The clubs have agreed a £8.6m deal.

United are said to hold both buy-back and sell-on clauses for the Congo-born talent. Kambwala is in the final 12 months of his United deal and has rejected his most recent contract offer from the club.

Ivan Toney condition
Brentford forward has recently been linked to Manchester United, despite their signing of Zirkzee. The Bees forward has spent the summer with England in their Euro 2024 campaign but is now set to see speculation over his future with just a year remaining on his contract.

The Mail suggest that United see a move for Toney as 'unrealistic' but they could be persuaded otherwise. If they significant departures from their forward line, that stance could change however.

Mason Greenwood is already expected to depart with Marseille and Lazio interested in a move for the striker. It would require moves beyond that for United to return the market however.
