Luka Modric Extends Real Madrid Stay for One More Year
Real Madrid captain Luka Modric has signed a one-year contract extension with the Spanish giants, ensuring his presence at the club for the 2024-25 season. The 38-year-old Croatian midfielder, who joined Real Madrid from Tottenham in 2012, has been instrumental in the club's success over the years.
Since his arrival, Modric has amassed an impressive collection of 26 trophies, including six Champions League titles and four domestic league championships. The 2018 Ballon d'Or winner has made 534 appearances for Los Blancos, scoring 39 goals. In the 2023-24 season, he played 46 matches across all competitions, although he started only 23 of those games.
Modric's experience and leadership will be invaluable for manager Carlo Ancelotti as he embarks on his 13th season at the Bernabeu. Despite being out of contract at the end of June, Modric's renewal is seen as a strategic move to maintain stability and experience within the squad.
In addition to Modric's extension, Real Madrid have made other significant signings, including the acquisition of French striker Kylian Mbappe from Paris Saint-Germain and teenage sensation Endrick from Brazilian club Palmeiras. These additions aim to bolster the squad as they continue to compete at the highest levels of European football.
