Joao Cancelo Nears Move from Manchester City to Al-Hilal
Manchester City has reached an agreement with Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal for the transfer of defender Joao Cancelo in a deal worth £21.2 million. While personal terms are not expected to pose any issues, Cancelo has yet to accept the proposed move. If he agrees, the 30-year-old Portuguese player is set to ink a three-year contract, concluding his five-year tenure at the Etihad Stadium.
The talented full-back, who initially became Pep Guardiola's first choice for the inverted full-back role, saw his standing at the club diminish despite signing a new contract in 2022. A disagreement with Guardiola led to Cancelo spending the last 18 months on loan spells with Bayern Munich and Barcelona, making a permanent exit from Manchester City increasingly likely.
Cancelo has not featured in any of City's Premier League matches this season, nor was he part of the squad for the Community Shield victory over Manchester United. As the situation develops, Cancelo's potential move to Al-Hilal could mark a significant shift in his career, offering him a fresh start in the Saudi Pro League.
