Porto and Villarreal are competing to sign West Ham United center-back Nayef Aguerd

According to French media outlet Foot Mercato, Portuguese giants Porto and La Liga club Villarreal have made signing West Ham United center-back Nayef Aguerd their top priority.

With the arrivals of Todibo and Kilman, Aguerd has lost his starting position at West Ham for the new season. He hasn't had any playing time in the first two rounds of the Premier League or the League Cup match against Bournemouth. The Hammers are hoping to offload the 28-year-old Moroccan international before the transfer window closes, while the player recently turned down an offer from Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.

However, considering his performances last season, Aguerd is not short of suitors. Porto and Villarreal have recently shown great interest in him and have made him their primary target. In addition, another European club is reportedly keeping an eye on Aguerd's situation.

Aguerd joined West Ham United in the summer of 2022 from Rennes for a transfer fee of €35 million and signed a five-year contract.
