The team signed the 16th overall pick from the 2016 draft, Yabusele, from Real Madrid's men's basketball team

The Philadelphia 76ers have officially announced the signing of French player Guerschon Yabusele. In accordance with team policy, the terms of the contract have not been disclosed.

Yabusele won a silver medal in the men’s basketball event at the Paris Olympics this summer. In the six games he played for the French national team, Yabusele averaged the second-highest points on the team with 14.0 points per game, along with 3.3 rebounds, while shooting 51.9% from the field. His performance earned him a spot on the All-Olympic Second Team for men’s basketball.

Over the past three seasons, Yabusele played for Real Madrid’s men’s basketball team, helping the team win the Spanish Liga ACB title twice (in 2022 and 2024) and the EuroLeague championship once (in 2023). Last season, he appeared in 64 games in both the Liga ACB and the EuroLeague, starting 35 of them, and averaged 9.7 points and 4.0 rebounds per game with a field goal percentage of 53.1%, a three-point percentage of 44.5%, and a free-throw percentage of 81.3%.

Throughout his career, Yabusele has played for French teams ASVEL, Rouen Métropole, and Chorale Roanne, the NBA's Boston Celtics, as well as the Nanjing and Shanghai teams in the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA).

In 2016, Yabusele was selected 16th overall in the first round of the NBA draft by the Boston Celtics. After playing one season with the Shanghai Sharks, he signed with the Celtics in 2017. In the new season, Yabusele will wear the number 28 jersey.
