Raheem Sterling Joins Arsenal on Loan from Chelsea
In a surprising move on transfer deadline day, Raheem Sterling has joined Arsenal from Chelsea on a season-long loan. The 29-year-old forward, who has 82 caps for England, was not part of new Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca’s plans, prompting a late switch to the Gunners. Sterling expressed excitement about the move, describing it as a perfect fit and highlighting the sense of togetherness under Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta.

Sterling, who joined Chelsea from Manchester City in July 2022 for £50 million, has made 81 appearances for the Blues, scoring 19 goals. Despite being a key player initially, he found himself out of favor following Chelsea's extensive summer spending spree, which exceeded £200 million. Talks of a potential move to Manchester United surfaced, but Arsenal emerged as the destination late in the transfer window.

Reuniting with Arteta, who was a coach at Manchester City during Sterling's tenure, the forward is eager to contribute to Arsenal's journey. He praised the club's spirit and ambition, mentioning conversations with Arsenal's sporting director, Edu, about the team's progress. While Sterling was pivotal for England as they finished runners-up at Euro 2020, he has not played for the national team since December 2022.
