According to an official announcement from the Uruguayan Football Association, Luis Suarez will hold a press conference at 8:00 p.m. local time in Uruguay on September 2 (7:00 a.m. Beijing time on September 3) at the Centenario Stadium. The press conference will be broadcast live on the Uruguayan Football Association’s official channel. ESPN has confirmed that Suárez will announce his decision to retire from the national team during the press conference.
The 37-year-old Suárez has represented Uruguay in 142 matches, scoring 69 goals and providing 39 assists. He has participated in five World Cup qualifying campaigns and four World Cups, and he won the Copa América with the team in 2011.
