Steve Bruce Takes the Helm at Blackpool
Steve Bruce has been appointed as the new head coach of League One side Blackpool on a two-year contract. This marks the 63-year-old's return to management after being dismissed by West Bromwich Albion in October 2022. Bruce, a seasoned manager with over 1,000 matches under his belt, takes over from Neil Critchley, who was sacked following a poor start to the season.

Bruce's extensive experience includes stints at clubs like Birmingham City, Hull City, Aston Villa, and Newcastle United. He is joined by his long-time assistant Steve Agnew and a coaching team that includes former players Richard Keogh, Stephen Dobbie, and Steve Banks. Bruce expressed his excitement about leading Blackpool, stating his eagerness to work with the team and staff to make the season at Bloomfield Road successful.

Blackpool's owner, Simon Sadler, emphasized Bruce's leadership qualities and organized approach as key factors in his appointment. Sadler also highlighted the opportunity for the club's young coaching talents to learn from Bruce's experienced team. Bruce will officially begin his tenure on September 14, when Blackpool faces Exeter at home, hoping to turn the tide after a challenging start to their campaign.
