In the first round of the UEFA Champions League, Bayern Munich faced Dinamo Zagreb. In the first half, Pavlović won a penalty, which Kane converted. Olise extended the lead with a well-placed shot, and Kane completed a four-goal haul by scoring twice more from the penalty spot, becoming the first player in Champions League history to convert three penalties in a single match. Towards the end of the game, Müller assisted Sané, who scored from a long-range shot, and Kimmich set up Goretzka for a header. Bayern ultimately defeated Dinamo Zagreb 9-2.
