Inter Milan Negotiates for Buchanan Amid Valuation Gap
According to renowned Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, Inter Milan is currently in negotiations with Club Brugge regarding Canadian winger Buchanan. However, the initial offer made by Inter Milan did not meet Club Brugge's expectations.
Following Juan Cuadrado's injury and subsequent surgery, Inter Milan decided to secure a replacement in January, with Buchanan identified as the ideal target. Born in 1999, the player's contract with Club Brugge is set to expire in the summer of 2025. In the current season, he has made 20 appearances across various competitions, contributing three goals and four assists.
Inter Milan has tabled an initial offer of €6 million for Buchanan, while Club Brugge has set their asking price at €10 million, indicating a gap between the two parties. However, negotiations are still ongoing.
The rejection of this offer has prompted reflections on the valuation standards for players. The football transfer market has long grappled with inflated transfer fees and player valuations, and this incident may lead to a broader discussion about the football transfer market. Clubs, in formulating offers, need to consider various factors such as a player's actual performance, potential, contract situation, ensuring that the offer fairly and reasonably reflects the player's true value. This discussion aims to provide a more robust and sustainable foundation for transfer activities between clubs.
