Southgate Excludes Grealish, Maguire, and Maddison from England's Euro 2024 Squad
In a decision that has sparked much discussion and speculation, England manager Gareth Southgate announced his final 26-man squad for Euro 2024, which saw the omission of big names like Jack Grealish, Harry Maguire, and James Maddison.
Grealish and Maguire, two players known for their stellar performances, have been left out of the squad. Grealish was expected to join the training early with the Manchester City squad, while Maguire is nursing a calf injury.
Maddison and Curtis Jones were also excluded from the squad. Maddison expressed his disappointment over not making the squad, attributing this to his inconsistent form on returning from injury in the second half of the season with Spurs.
The confirmation of the final squad puts Eberechi Eze and Jarrod Bowen in the spotlight, who have been included for the tournament in Germany, while Grealish and Maddison were excluded due to their similar playing styles.
Jarell Quansah is also likely to be omitted from the 33-player provisional squad, alongside Jarrad Branthwaite and James Trafford. England will open their Euro 2024 campaign on June 16th against Serbia.
