Craig Bellamy Set to Become New Wales Manager
Craig Bellamy is expected to be confirmed as the new manager of Wales on Tuesday, making it his first managerial role. Despite never having held a senior managerial position before, Bellamy, a former Welsh international player, impressed FAW officials during discussions.
The former Burnley assistant manager will take over from Rob Page, who was sacked in June after failing to qualify for Euro 2024. Bellamy, who worked as acting head coach for Burnley after Vincent Kompany's departure, is said to be eager to lead the Welsh national team.
This is considered a dream role for Bellamy, who had previously been a candidate for the position in 2018. He now faces the challenge of leading Wales through the qualifying process for the 2026 World Cup, a task that will be difficult without the presence of Gareth Bale.
His first match in charge will be against Turkey in the Nations League on September 6th.
