Liverpool Signs Valencia Goalkeeper Mamardashvili and Loans Him Back for One Year

Liverpool has reached an agreement with 23-year-old Giorgi Mamardashvili. He will remain in Spain with Valencia for the rest of this season and then move to Merseyside next summer. Mamardashvili's performance at UEFA Euro 2024 was impressive, leading Georgia to the Round of 16. In the three group stage matches, he made 21 saves, tying the record for the most saves in a single tournament in history.
The goalkeeper, who has earned 21 caps for the national team, will play for Valencia for another season. Since his transfer from Dinamo Tbilisi to Valencia in 2021, he has spent three years with the Spanish club. So far, Mamardashvili has made 102 appearances for Valencia, keeping 31 clean sheets across all competitions. This season, he has started in both of Valencia's matches against Barcelona and Celta. According to earlier reports, Liverpool will pay Valencia a fixed transfer fee of €30 million and an additional €5 million in performance-related bonuses for Mamardashvili. The deal also includes a sell-on clause with a percentage of future transfer fees.
